Building relationships that last with families, commissioners and the people we support.

Built on a Simple Belief

We started with a simple belief – that people with learning disabilities and complex needs deserve to live ordinary lives, in real homes, with the right people around them.

That belief has shaped everything we have done since. From our early work with Health Authorities across the North West, to the development of supported employment, outreach and homecare services, every step of our journey has been driven by the same purpose: to help people feel safe, known and supported to grow in independence over time.

Today we support over 400 people across Merseyside, Manchester and Lancashire, employing a team of 500 people who share our values and our commitment to doing this work well.

“Staff are amazing. They keep me in the loop with everything regarding my daughter’s care. Some of the best carers I’ve ever come across.”

How We Got Here

In 1986, Mediline was established to support people with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs to live independently in the community.

Working closely with Health Authorities across the North West, we provided support to people living in small registered homes, building a reputation for consistency, care and honest partnership working.

That same year, we established our work-based learning programmes – aimed at helping young adults develop the skills and confidence needed to enter the workplace. Over time, these developed into a structured apprenticeship offer, supporting people with the skills needed to do their job well within their chosen profession.

In 1995, we launched our supported employment service in Merseyside, taking a personalised approach to helping people with significant disabilities find and hold down real jobs with some of the biggest employers in the country. It remains a service we are proud of to this day.

As demand for our services grew, we worked in close partnership with the NHS and local authorities to develop our outreach and homecare services – broadening our reach and making it possible for more people across the North West to live independently in their own homes and communities.

Where We Are Today

Mediline now supports over 400 people across the North West, with a team of 500 delivering services across Merseyside, Manchester and Lancashire.

Our services include supported living, supported employment, outreach and homecare – all delivered with the same values and commitment to people-led support that have defined us since 1986.

We are proud of what we have built and honest about the responsibility that comes with it. The people we support, their families and the professionals we work alongside deserve consistency, transparency and support delivered with genuine respect. That is what we work towards every day.

How Referrals Work

Most referrals come through local authority teams, social workers, brokerage teams and commissioners. We also welcome enquiries from case managers and families managing direct payments.

If you are a social worker or commissioner, referrals usually come through your local authority process. If you are contacting us directly, we will guide you through the next steps and make sure the right people are involved from the start.

Reach out directly or through your local authority referral process. We are on framework provider lists across our regions and receive referrals via secure platforms including Zivver and The Chest.

Our team reviews the information you provide. If we need anything further, we’ll come back to you quickly to make sure we have a clear picture.

If supported living looks like a good fit, we arrange a detailed assessment with the individual and the people involved in their support.

The pre-tenancy assessment is led by an experienced clinician. We take time to understand the person’s needs, strengths and what matters most to them.

We share a clear assessment report and, where appropriate, agree next steps and a carefully planned transition into support. Nothing is rushed.
